How to Repurpose Scrabble Tiles

Tyler and I love to play Scrabble; he will not admit this, but I always win- HA. Thanks to "sneaky" tricks from Words With Friends (since he does not play it) I have a leg up against Tyler... although... I never win Words With Friends... or any iPhone games. If you like Scrabble, there is another fun game called Bananagrams. Bananagrams is a more causal, social, fast-paced version. Any game involving letters on tiles usually entertains us.

I first became obsessed with Scrabble-tile-anything from Pinterest.

Here are some ways to repurpose Scrabble tiles I found on Pinterest:

Pillows, just think of the possibilities!

This is the pin that started it all

A twist on initials

When it came time for our engagement photo shoot I knew I wanted to add in Scrabble tiles somehow. This is what we came up with:

Bonjour world! Welcome to my blog. I started this blog so my family and friends can keep up with my adventures and read about our family Europe Trip we took last summer (May-June 2012). Eventually I will post stories from my travels and travel dreams, cooking adventures as I teach myself how to cook via Pinterest, vent about being a grad student, wedding plan, and whatever else enters my mind. I have an obsession with moving to Europe and almost everything I do in life has the purpose of bringing me one step closer to that dream! One can dream right? Other things you might want to know about me besides my Europe obsession: I have a cat-dog that I treat like a child, her name is Lucy; I am engaged to my high school sweetheart; I miss my family everyday; lifelong learner and teacher; and I like cheesy quotes such as "sharing is caring" and "live to give." So come along!

Ciao Ciao,

About DessertationBlog

What is dessertation? When I made this blog I only had two things on my mind: dessert and the looming dissertation. My fiance had a stroke of genius and blurted out "dessertation!" He said, "you should start a blog." And like any other grad student, I am always looking for a reason to procrastinate, a blog fit the bill. As simple as a story it is, DessertationBlog was formed.

As a full time graduate student I bribe myself with baking! I once had an amazing professor who encouraged us to bribe ourselves when writing. I took his advice literally and now bribe myself with dreaming up my next dessert, or Starbucks trips.

Besides baking, I have the travel bug. I have been very lucky and had the opportunity to go to Europe twice since high school. I like to research and write about traveling when I am not "writing" (more like procrastinating!) on my dissertation.

Therefore, the gist is, this blog details my traveling and cooking adventures as I work on my dissertation. I hope you enjoy the blog, bake some desserts, and are inspired to travel. To my fellow grad students, get back to work and off blogger ;-)

About Ashley: A full time doctoral student, learner and teacher. She enjoys traveling, baking, reading, blogging, and spending time with her family and friends. She has been blogging since 2011.
